Jewish life is about people – people coming together in a sense of extended family. And it is that sense of caring and connecting traditions to our everyday lives that we strive to create at Temple B’nai Or. As a family we learn, worship, grow, celebrate, play, and, most importantly, engage in acts of Tikkun Olam together, working to make the world what God dreams it to be.
Many families enter our community through our wonderful Frances and Herbert Brody Pre-School and its many programs. A non-sectarian school, our Pre-School provides an excellent intro into Jewish life and superb foundation for learning for our children.
Our Joel and Helen Jacobs Religious School provides students from K-12 with a caring, substantive and innovative Jewish education. Never resting on our laurels, we are constantly striving to make our school more and more creative and engaging. (This is NOT the Religious School you grew up with!)
Our Worship Services for Shabbat, the High Holidays and the Festival, combine personal and communal spirituality, blending tradition with creativity, held together with the music that is a trademark of our culture.
Our Arms, clubs and committees provide the ideal entrée to engage in social activities for congregants of all ages. Active participation and volunteerism is truly the lifeblood our community.
We are dedicated to nurturing our ties with each other as members of a caring community, to strengthening our link with the Jewish community and the State of Israel and to supporting Progressive Judaism in Israel and throughout the world.
We welcome the intermarried and their families and those who might seek to become a part of the Jewish People and Faith.
Our arms are open to all those of Jewish background – regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation or marital status – who would join us in our vision.
There are so many layers to life at B’nai Or. We invite you to explore our website and learn about us, then come for a Shabbat service or a visit with our clergy and staff. We look forward to welcoming you to our special community.
